Padma Shri Awardee Tarpa Artist Bhiklya Ladkya Dhinda
The
person seen in the picture is Bhiklya Ladkya Dhinda, a 90–92 year old tribal
artist from Palghar, Maharashtra, also known as Bhikhlya Dhinda. He has been
awarded the Padma Shri in 2026 for his contribution to the field of art.
He
is considered a legendary performer of the Tarpa musical instrument. The Tarpa
is a traditional musical instrument of the Warli tribe, used during festivals
and traditional dance performances.
This
recognition highlights the rich cultural heritage and folk music traditions of
the Warli community at the national level.
