thumbnail

The instrument shown in the picture is called Timki. Its structure is made using leather, wood, and rope for tying and tightening the parts together. These materials are used to prepare the instrument in a traditional way.

This musical instrument is used during dance, music, and entertainment activities. In earlier times, when the people of the Warli community returned home tired after working in the fields, they would gather together after dinner and perform dance and music.

During such gatherings, the Timki musical instrument was commonly used, reflecting the collective lifestyle and cultural traditions of the Warli tribe.
