Course Overview

Longpi Black Pottery is a distinctive craft tradition of the Tangkhul Tribe in Manipur, made without the use of a potter’s wheel. The craft uses a unique mixture of weathered rock and clay to produce durable, black-finished pottery known for both functional and ceremonial uses. This pottery tradition reflects indigenous technological knowledge, sustainable resource use, and the cultural identity of the Tangkhul community.
