Preparation of Geru (Red Soil) Paste for Bhitti Chitra

In the process of wall painting, the application of geru takes place after the wall has been prepared with mud and cow dung plaster. This red layer is applied as a base coat on the wall, providing both aesthetic appeal and a strong background that enhances the visibility of white motifs made using rice paste. Geru, being a natural pigment, adheres well to the surface and ensures durability.

The geru layer forms the visual foundation upon which cultural symbols and artistic expressions are later created.
