The musical instrument shown in the picture is called Gosem. Gosem is a traditional bamboo wind instrument, often compared to a bagpipe. It is made from a dried, hollow gourd that acts as an air chamber, into which bamboo pipes of varying lengths are fitted. Its structure varies slightly among different tribes. In the Thadou Kuki community, it typically has seven bamboo pipes, while in some other communities the number can go up to nine. It is also known by different names in different regions, such as Rawchhem in the Mizo community, Rusam in the Kom tribe, and Ejuk Tapung in the Mishing community. This instrument is mainly used during traditional festivals, community gatherings, and cultural occasions.
