Traditional Pidha on a Mud Wall – A Feature of Baiga Homes

The picture shows a slightly raised area near and attached to the wall, known as a Pidha (seating area). While constructing the house, this Pidha is supported with a stone embedded in the mud wall. The combination of mud and stone makes it strong, allowing anyone to sit on it regardless of weight. The wall is plastered with white clay. This is a remarkable example of the traditional craftsmanship of the Baiga community.
